Graduate Testimonials

" Just want to let you folks know that I received my P.G.T.A.A. Teaching Certificate recently. I just wanted to commend you on, what I think, is a great idea of setting up an association "specializing" in the training of golf instructors.

I have mentioned in previous emails that I play professionally on a Mini-Tour. All of the Pro's are PGA Pro's. I just wanted to let you know that they all have readily accepted me as a P.G.T.A.A. member.

Quite honestly, I was a bit surprised. I really thought that they might treat me more like a second class citizen as compared to the PGA Pro who has spent up to 6 years in?the PGA program. Every
Pro I have talked to agrees with the fact that if I'm doing this for one reason - to teach golf- there is no sense spending all that time (and $$) learning how to run a Pro Shop, marketing, etc. I even had one Pro refer a couple of students my way.

So, it's great being a part of an accredited association such as the P.G.T.A.A. and it's great knowing that I'm getting the respect of my peers.

Thanks,

Mike Demetro

Thanks for sending the materials so quickly. I appreciate it. I read the PGTAA "success secrets for teaching golf booklet" already and really liked it. You did a great job with that piece, indeed."

Congratulations to Jason Lopez, PGTAA Teaching Professional

If you are a follower of sports in Jamaica then the name Jason Lopez might ring a bell. He has been one of Jamaica's premier golfers for the past 12 years and recently realized his life-long dream of implementing a golf school in Jamaica

The school which was officially opened in October of last year was built at a cost of $5-million and is housed on the premises of the Constant Spring Golf Club in St. Andrew. The state of the art facility provides private instruction and public practice training to children and adults from the beginners' level to the professional.

Sergio Poo, PGTAA Master Teaching Professional, named new director of golf at Westin Roco Ki Beach

March 20,2008. The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort is pleased to welcome the new director of golf operations, Sergio Poo, who will oversee the management of the Faldo Legacy Golf Course. This spectacular 18-hole, par-72 course is Nick Faldo’s first course design project in the Caribbean. Sergio Poo was appointed by Troon Golf and the Roco Ki Golf Club.

Poo has more than 14 years of experience in the golf industry. Prior to assuming the management of the Faldo Legacy Golf Course served as general manager and clubhouse operations director at St. Lucia Golf Club where he was responsible for the continued maintenance of the golf course and daily operations. Poo had also served previously as operations manager at the Playa Mujeres Golf Club, a Troon Golf-managed facility in Cancun, Mexico overseeing the grand opening of the golf course and clubhouse.

The PGTAA home study course matched all my expectations. As a long distance learner the material was dispatched expeditiously and the PGTAA  always replied promptly to my e mails and requests.

I highly recommend the PGTAA course to anybody wishing to teach golf. Your teaching manual is highly comprehensive and user friendly.

Thanks to the PGTAA staff, I am now a proud PGTAA  member and strive to represent the PGTAA down here in South Africa mindful of the mission statement which attracted me to the organisation initially.

To fellow members , please feel free to contact me should you be golfing in South Africa.Photos to follow.

Hi Barry,

I just wanted to give you an update on my teaching career, since I graduated in March I currently have 24 students for private lessons and approximately 50 other students in group lessons. Dear Barry,

Just to say a special thanks for all your support since I graduated in 2003.

I live and teach on the Costa Del Sol in Spain and my reputation has grown over these past 4 years I mainly teach single figure golfers but that is just the way word and mouth happens from teaching one person he or she is so satisfied that my phone number gets past on from person to person.

I always keep everything simple but what I'm trying to say is that the books and literature that you sent me in the beginning were and are invaluable,I would also like to add that anyone wishing to become a teaching pro should look no further than the PGTAA.Wishing yourself Barry your company and all fellow members good luck and my best wishes for the future VIVA THE PGTAA.

I recently graduated in June 2006 as a Class A Master Professional . Since graduating.......

I was hired as the Head teaching Pro at the only Par 3 Course in my town on Cape Cod.

I was given the opportunity to teach at a 27 hole championship course on Cape Cod, with great facilities.

I was offered opportunities to teach at local driving range facilities as well.

At the end of the summer I was lucky enough to be honored with the Friends of the Fairway award representing my town East Falmouth, Ma. This award was given by the Mass State Lottery partnered with the Deutsch Bank Classic (which Tiger won in Norton). The Award was for " Recognizing 351 extraordinary citizens that have made a difference in community through teaching golf and sport". I thank you for this great course, and top notch material. Now I'm really doing something I love.

This is because I strictly give golf lessons just like I've always wanted.

All my day is spent teaching, not in a clubhouse. I am my own boss ,with my own clients. I have a personal relationship with all my clients as well, which makes you more than just a swing doctor, but a mental coach , and I love that. I never thought this was possible for a career in golf instruction, until I found the PGTAA.

The PGTAA teaches you everything from: scheduling lessons, setting rates, teaching the fundamentals of the swing, advertising, marketing, and how to conduct yourself in a successful , professional manner. There is so much valuable information inside this certification, that you will to succeed if you want to.

All of your great material on Advertising,Marketing, and golf instruction have prepared me for success since day one. All the books are gold, and I refer to them to this day to strengthen my business , and to make necessary improvements, when and where I need too. Also, I've noticed a lot of great golf articles written by Dr.Lotz' lying around the clubhouse, and in the stores. I can see why this is a top notch association, because he is a top notch contributor to the golf world.

I honestly couldn't be a happier, prouder member of the PGTAA and I am glad to spread the word.

Sincerely,
Dade McDermott - diomcd24@hotmail.com

Subj: Professional recognition of Mr. Sonny Gibbs

Mr. Sonny Gibbs, who is a friend and associate of my family, was my primary coach during the critical development stages of my golf swing. This took place between the ages of 10-13. Sonny has also provided off/on assistance with helping me with my swing, putting, and helping me keep the mental side sharp as I visited him even now from time-to-time in between playing competitively. He has been an instrumental coach and friend to me, and a superb golf coach, a vital golf professional who spearheads junior golf development here on Okinawa, Japan.

I have recently accepted a position as Club Manager with the West Point Country Club in West Point, VA. I will be able to utilize my teaching and golf management skills that I gained from your organization.

I wanted to give you an update on what is happening with my teaching after the two months I have been instructing. You are welcome to use as a testimonial.

I am working at the largest golf school in my home state, which has four facilities and short game areas at each location. I have done two week long junior camps, several multi week adult beginners classes, intermediate classes, and many new individual and semi private lessons. The head professional and school owner called me in to his office to say that every survey he has received on my performance has been "Excellent" from the customers. I believe the course instruction from the PGTAA has allowed me to get this prestigious position and become a good instructor. Thank you for your support and I welcome anyone contacting me to discuss how this organization can make dreams come true!

The home study course I found to be very informative. I have been around golf for the past 41 years in different facets of the game. Until you decide to actually teach the game do you realize how little you know the complexity of the golf swing and golf swing mechanics. The Home study course did a great job teaching how to deal with the many situations the instructor would encounter and different approaches to correct problems. Since there are many methods and methodologies of teaching golf, the course trains the instructor to develop teaching methods that covers more then one approach to instruction. The final objective is to have your students improve their golf game, and I believe this course has given me the tools to do this and improve my own abilities.

Learning about the evolution of golf, golf equipment and techniques has helped me understand how to develop methods for becoming a great instructor and allow my students the best instruction they can get. I realize I will never know the gratification that comes from winning a major tournament on tour but if I can start a student in the right direction that they may someday know the feeling I have accomplished my job.

Here is a quick update on things in my neck of the woods. I am giving private lessons and teaching at the University of North Florida, I'm involved and teach at the First Tee of Jacksonville, operated by Pepper Pete, Calvin Pete's daughter. This is a great opportunity to help under privileged children learn the game of golf. My current job, Edwin Watts Golf, superstore of Jacksonville. I am part of the management staff controlling all facets of the business and the in house certified master teaching professional. Thanks again Barry, all this was made possible with your help four years ago. If I can help you please let me know.

It has been a few months since my successful completion of the PGTAA curriculum and I can't say thank you enough. The PGTAA certification in a very short time has helped to validate my efforts towards accomplishing greater things in the game of golf. My overall goal remains to become a collegiate golf coach and I am currently pursuing multiple opportunities with enormous hope as well as confidence. Again, thank you!

The PGTAA is without question the preeminent golf instruction certification program and I am proud to be a member and graduate! Thank you, Dr. Lotz!

Mike Kletz – Houghton Golf Club – Head Pro - Johannesburg, South Africa

I have been a member of the PGTAA for a number of years and I have found the home study course of great benefit to my teaching and I would say that it is the next best option to becoming PGA pro.

The cost is $995 for the home study course: I had to shoot an 83 on any course which I did on the senior tour, so that was no problem and any pro should be able to do that, I also had to do a test on 101 questions regarding teaching skills which was no problem as well. I received a lot of ongoing support from Dr. Barry Lotz, the president of the PGTAA!

I am sure with your golfing knowledge you should have no problems in passing the course and from which I am sure, you will receive great and many benefits!

If you need any more information please don’t hesitate to contact me via email (mkletz@mweb.co.za) or on my cell phone- 0824426943.

Thanks to the PGTAA and its instructors, I have achieved a dream of a lifetime. After many successful years in the contracting and business environment, I decided to pursue my passion of golf.

At 53 and with a fairly solid game, I decided to pursue becoming a teaching professional. I have always enjoyed helping youths on the driving range. After researching various golf schools I selected the PGTAA to pursue my teaching certificate.

My selecting the PGTAA proved to be my smartest move in my golf instructing desires. Currently, I'm the head golf instructor at Brazell's Creek Golf Course, a state operated facility with strict guidelines.

Several of my students are Junior High and High School students on golf teams. Just recently my High School male student and female student qualified in the number one slots and to date are the top two players. I credit this not to my abilities but to the excellent instructors program offered by PGTAA.

Thanks to the PGTAA Teaching program my dream of golf has come to pass. When the PGTAA requested permission to use my success as testimonial, I was honored to do so. My success is small since I really have just begun. I'm adding students daily and rely greatly on my PGTAA materials to guide me and help me grow as an instructor.

Should your desires be to pursue golf instructing as a profession, take it from me, let the PGTAA be your golf instructor's school of choice. Upon completion of my course with the PGTAA I was teaching students.

I'm truly proud and honored to be one of the many PGTAA members. Come join us for an exciting and wonderful career.

" Just to let you all know that I am very proud again that my student Mika Miyazato recently, several days ago in fact, made another historical mark in the junior arena of Japan. She won the 2004 All Japan Ladies Amateur Tournament. A first for a teenager, and a 14 year old. Since being PGTAA certified, my teaching career has blossomed."

Last season had to be the busiest year I have had since receiving my
certification. Along with the constant flow of private lessons, we ran two
youth camps averaging 17 students per camp as well as numerous adult clinics through the season. We work closely with the town of Williston Recreation Department and the Sports & Fitness Edge.

Needless to say my affiliation with the PGTAA continues to open doors for me in the profession of golf instruction.

Thank you for your outstanding and very professional service and follow-up
regarding my PGTAA Master Teaching Credentials. I feel honored in receiving my Master Teaching Professional Certification. As a 12-year veteran in the golf business, it was refreshing working with the PGTAA and you. The PGTAA has an outstanding opportunity to thrive in this exploding golf market. Keep up the great work. I would recommend the PGTAA to all my fellow golf professionals or anyone interested in the golf business and being affiliated with a winner. I have recently opened a Golf Academy in Southwest Florida and have had great success (GolfProSWFLA=Golf Pro Services of Southwest Florida).

Thanks again,
Billy J. Urquhart, PGA/ PGTAA Master Teaching Professional.

Hello Dr. B. !

I have been moving on up! I accepted a head pro job at a beautiful championship golf course "Emerald Greens" (36 holes!), just after 2 years of taking you course! I have a beautiful private Cedar lined office next to a 30 stall golf range with 3 hole (par 12) practice course! Awesome!

This opportunity wouldn't of been there if I wouldn't of taken your course.

Thanks again!

Golf Instruction

I was pleasantly surprised to receive notification of my passing the PGTAA course today! As an independent teaching pro, it's nice to find an organization that is dedicated to teachers of the game. I have nothing but praise for my experience with the PGTAA. I would certainly recommend your association to those that would like to pursue a career teaching the game, but are discouraged by the stagnation of other professional golf associations.

Andrew Bryant

Tiger Junior Golf Association

This is the Tiger Junior Golf Association. Four of the 9-10 year olds achieved at least one medal in the Golf Channel Drive, Chip and Putt skills contest. One went to the Regional Finals, and one went to the National finals. We also had an 8 week league t hat taught etiquette, the rules of golf, weekly lessons, a drive, chip and putt contest, and a nite-lite golf party. The 8 weeks were so well accepted that the kids wanted to play the rest of the summer. 8 weeks turned into 14.

Needless to say it was very successful.

Thank you very much for supporting me in becoming a Master Teaching Professional. It was not easy to finish an pass the PGTAA exam. There were a lot of things to learn and to know about and also to work. But at the end it was worth every second to obtain the certification through hard work. Now I am proud to be member of your association and would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity.

Peter Bruehlmann

Thank you for a great week. I think your program is great for people like me who want to teach. I learned more about the golf swing in one week than in my ten years of playing.

Best of luck and thanks again.

I recently acquired a new position as Head Golf Professional at Governors Run G&CC and am in the process of having business cards printed. I will be including your logo on my card -- I am proud to be a member and would like nothing more than to promote the organization at my facility.

I'm glad I did the PGTAA course. I'm now teaching at a local driving range and am doing an average of 6hrs a day already. The response has been beyond expectation. Two clubs had asked me to conduct a summer camp for juniors in May which were also very successful. We had 60 children between the ages of 7yrs to 16yrs.

Now I need to know two things, a)Is there another more advanced course that I can do? and b)I'd like to work abroad for some time to add to my experience. You had mentioned that you do placements, how does one go about it?

Lastly, I must say that I'm really enjoying my work!

Regards,
Sujai

Thanks for all your help in getting my coaching business up and going. Your workbook "How to make $100,000 per year Teaching Golf" is an absolute gold mine of information.

I am teaching 60 hours per week! I am now thinking about hiring an associate. Do you have any potential graduates who may be looking for work?

Once again, thanks for all your help.

Brandon

I am pleased and satisfied with PGTAA. Not only has the PGTAA validated me in my teaching profession but has helped me in ways I never imagined. I would recommend the PGTAA course to any serious golfer that wants to teach professionally, improve their playing skills, and increase their knowledge of the game.

Take care,

Tim Layton

Dear Dr Lotz

Many thanks for your letter and the enclosed certificate confirming my success in becoming a Master Teaching Professional as a result of the PGTAA Home Study Course.

Living in Bahrain the opportunity to travel to undertake an overseas course is limited, as such the PGTAA Home Study Course provided an excellent opportunity for me to gain a qualification whilst based at home. Although I found the written examination tou gh in parts the study material provided ensured that I was able to find out what i needed to. The format also required that I read all of the material completely two or three times in order to check the tougher questions.

Throughout the whole process from my first enquiry to receiving the certificate today I have found the PGTAA to be supportive and responsive to all of my needs and would thoroughly recommend the course to other overseas golfers who have a desire to become a teaching professional.

I would be grateful if you could supply me with details of the PGTAA logo shirts, how I can order them, payment method and shipping costs to Bahrain.

I would be more than happy for you to use my success as a testimonial.

Best Regards

Paul Tidey

Hello Dr. B. !
